Current river conditions: 1/10/12
Fishing Report: Winter Steelhead madness has gotten off to a fantastic start. Fish are being caught on flies as well as gear. There are a good number of fish being found throughout the entire river system.
Water Conditions: 36f , excellent visibility, perfect conditions for steelhead.
Comments: Winter fishing has it's own allure. Yes the water is cold and the weather can be unpredictable. Sunshine and fleeting warmth can be followed by snow flakes and wind. But the subtle tug of a Steelhead before it explodes is a fitting reward for one's efforts.
There are other joys also: the abreviated song of a Canyon Wren, a glimpse of a mink hunting the rocky shore, the whistling flight of a trio of Golden Eyes, and brief flitting visits from a mixed flock of Kinglets and Juncos. We all relish any sunshine that graces our day while we wait for the greater reward of a willing fish. It is not all about racking up a "body count"! Enjoy what the river sends your way even on those fishless days.

When looking for lodging on the river, you'll want to check with Boggan's Oasis. Nothing fancy, just a variety of comfortable lodgings, great food, outstanding service and friendly people!
